About Tomorrow's Showhomes

Tomorrow’s Showhomes is another creation of Construction Marketing Services (CMS) and is now a joint initiative between CMS, Registered Master Builders Federation, Carters GIB®, Pink Batts, Norman Ellison Carpets, Wattyl, Carpet Court and James Hardie. Together we are taking another step in instigating an industry change from Cost-Driven to Solution-Driven construction. An industry-wide change we all know needs to happen as we have witnessed the repercussions of shortcuts, the usage of impractical products, lack of maintenance, poor installation and incorrect building structures in the aftermath of the leaky home syndrome.

Visitors to a Tomorrow’s Showhome will be educated on the individual products that make up the show home, and the importance of ‘Future Proofing' their own home to maintain their capital investment and so their home is ‘fit for purpose’ in the future, not only from a performance basis but also from a lifestyle perspective.

This is achieved by educating the visitors on the eight considerations that contribute to a “Future-Proof Building” and then displaying products that meet these demands. These eight “Future-Proof Building” icons represent the key functional areas of construction.

The homes cleverly show cut-aways in floors, walls and ceilings allowing visitors to view construction techniques within the exterior envelope, structure, interior linings, fittings and fixtures.

Yesterday’s construction failures of cost driven construction clearly supports the need for solution driven design, material specification and construction. The exhibition is designed to show consumers how to future proof their development so that it meets the “Demands of Tomorrows Buildings”.
